YANK Pin Up girl for 25 Feb 1944 Down Under Edition.  Patricia Dane.  She was a young starlet in the 40's.  She acted in about 16 movies.  She was noted for telling off an MGM studio exec which probably tanked her career.  She was married to Tommy Dorsey for about 4 years in the 1940's.  Her birth name was Thelma Pippen.  She was about 25 when this picture was taken.  She died in Florida in 1995.

Marie McDonald was the Pin-up Girl for YANK for 25 Aug 1944.

Marie appeared in about 24 Hollywood productions. Her nickname for a while was "the body."

Unfortunately she died of an overdose in 1965 at the age of 42. She was about 21 when this picture was taken.

Janet Blair YANK Pin-up Girl for 11 Aug 1944. Janet was a Hollywood actress who was born as Martha Jane Lafferty. Her stage name was taken from the Pennsylvania county (Blair) where she grew up. Janet appeared in about 54 films and televisions shows from 1941 to 1991. She also was the lead in "South Pacific" for about 1200 performances.

She died in 2007 at age of 85. She was about 23 when this picture was taken.

She died in 1978 of a stroke.

Jane Randolph was featured in a previous blog posting. She was YANK's very first Pin Up Girl on 17 June 1942. She had a brief career as a Hollywood actress from about 1941 to 1955. She later married and moved to Spain. She was about 23 when this picture was taken. She should be about 88 today.

She was about 22 when this picture was taken. Chili Williams died in 2003.

Maria Montez was the YANK Pin Up Girl for 29 Nov 1942. She was a popular actress in Hollywood during WWII. She was of Spanish decent born in the Dominican Republic.

Maria made movies from 1940 to 1951. In 1942 she had just finished "Arabian Nights" when this issue of YANK came out.

Maria tragically drowned in her bathtub on 7 Sept 1951, in Paris, France. She was 39 years old.

Her birth name was Bonnie Lenora Nigh. She died in Kern County California in 1993 of a stroke. She was about 19 when this picture was taken.

She has not been interviewed since 1949. She was about 23 or 24 in the above picture.
